Eqvalan Horse Wormer contains the active ingredient Ivermectin. Eqvalan is an effective anti-worming treatment. The treatment targets and destroys more worm species than any other brand, including large and small Red worms, Threadworms, Pinworms, Roundworms, Hairworms and a large variety of parasites such as Bots. This treatment does not kill Tapeworms. Safe to use to treat pregnant or lactating mares and young foals. Eqvalan is sold in a single shot syringe form; each syringe has the ability to dose one 600kg horse.
Dosage and Administration
Treated orally at the recommended dose rate of 0.2mg ivermectin/kg of bodyweight. Each syringe delivers 120mg ivermectin, enough to treat 600kg of bodyweight.
Parasite control programme
All Horses and Donkeys should undertake a regular parasite control program, with particular attention being paid to Mares, Foals and Yearlings. Foals should be treated initially at 6-8 weeks of age, and routine treatment repeated as appropriate.
Eqvalan oral paste for Horses is very effective against gastro-intestinal, cutaneous and pulmonary Nematodes and Bots of Horses. Regular treatment will reduce the chances of verminous arteritis and colic caused by strongylus vulgaris. This product is well suited to be the major medication in parasite control programs and is well suited to be a major component in a rotational program.
Each weight marking on the syringe plunger will provide sufficient paste to treat 100kg of bodyweight. Make a ¼ turn to unlock the knurled ring and slide the knurled ring up the plunger shaft ensuring the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking. Lock the knurled ring in place, by turning the ring another ¼. Remove the plastic cap from the tip of the nozzle. The Horses mouth should contain no feed. Insert the syringe in the horses’ mouth at the interdental space. Advance the plunger as far as it will go, depositing the medication at the base of the tongue.
